520 | Observing the Properties of Liquids!

19 July 2019

In Science, we have been learning about how to observe the different properties of solids, liquids and gases. We focused this week specifically on ‘liquids’. What makes a liquid, a liquid?!

We observed four types of matter:

  1. Washing liquid
  2. Lemonade
  3. Milk
  4. Laundry Powder

We already knew quite quickly that laundry powder was not a liquid, but we could still pour it?

When we poured them all onto the table however, we realised that liquids all flow and take the shape of their container. The laundry powder (a powdered solid) piled up and did not flow!
