520 have been learning about different ways to persuade our audience! We have done this by analysing and writing our own persuasive texts, and now we are exploring persuasion in debating. We have learned how a debate is structured, including affirmative and negative teams, rebuttal and defining the key terms. Children have been divided into teams to plan for a debate next week! There are two debate topics we will be discussing:
Teams began brainstorming their main points on butcher’s paper. We then used our collaboration skills to rotate in a carousel activity and build on our ideas. Teams then summarised the ideas ready for a debate next week! Here are some photos of our progress!
